Streets on Fire By Santa Cruz Skateboards | Skate Sonr

Streets On Fire is a classic skate film from Santa Cruz Skateboards. It is recognized as one of the first films to depict street skateboarding in actual streets skateboarding objects that are just everyday objects found in any city in the world. Up to this point, street skateboarding consisted of finding angled cemented or paved areas that resembled waves of water to skate on them as if it were surfing.

Nautas Kaupas' scene on Streets Of Fire changed that idea of street skateboarding completely by simply skateboarding curbs, handrails, walls, light poles, driveways, and other everyday city items. One of the most famous street moves he made was to spin on a fire hydrant and thus inventing the Natas Spin trick. From this point on, the idea of street skateboarding was expanded to anywhere concrete or pavement existed and all that was required was a bit of imagination to skate it.

This film also includes some great vert skateboarding both in cement and wooden ramps. It also includes vert skateboarding in actual massive plumbing pipes that they found and were later kicked out of.

The film follows the story of Jason Jessee being arrested and booked into a cell with other skaters coming to visit him at different stages of the film. Each skater brings some sort of story, magazine, or tape to share with Jason at which point the film cuts to a skateboarding scene.
