My name is Torunn Irene Seldal (@wave_unn).<br /><br />I had recently moved up to Lofoten from southern Norway, and I had never seen Garbage Dump working properly when it gets big.<br /><br />So, I have been watching the forecast for weeks, waiting in anticipation. <br /><br />The day before, the forecast showed the swell energy would jump after 2 pm (around 3,874 kJ).<br /><br />I had planned to check it in the morning and after 2 pm for the excitement and observation.<br /><br />Got a text in the morning that it was small, but I wasn’t feeling great in the morning, so it was actually a relief, and since I had the whole day off and a strong feeling the swell would build later, I could afford to be patient.<br /><br />Lyle Meek (@lylemeek) has lived in Lofoten for over 7 years now.<br /><br />His drive to Unstad takes nearly 2 hours because of tunnel construction, so he texted me asking for an update on the waves since I live close by.<br /><br />He was hoping to finish work early and surf before dark because he thought the swell would build in the afternoon.<br /><br />Lyle likes best to paddle out when it is properly big, and it had been a long time since the last solid swell. <br /><br />The swell was building, and a few locals had been surfing the left, but it was too big and messy for it now.<br /><br />Garbage Dump was really the only spot working at that time.<br /><br />There were only two guys out when I was shooting, Lyle Meek and Sverre Diaz Vogt.<br /><br />Before that, it was only one other person, but I didn’t get his name. <br /><br />The session<br /><br />It was dark, windy, and cold.<br /><br />Unfortunately, I forgot my tripod, so the footage was shaky.<br /><br />There was also hardly any light coming through for clear and light shots.<br /><br />Nevertheless, it was one of those raw days, super rewarding to finally see the spot firing.<br /><br />Date: March 2026;<br />Surfer: Lyle Meek (South Africa)<br />Spot: Unstad (Garbage Dump), Lofoten, Norway;<br />Swell: 3.7m, 13s, WSW;<br />Wind: Cross-shore, 35 kph;<br />Energy (when I was filming): 4,388 kJ;
