Just over a week after she claimed a win at the Tahiti Pro 2026, 19-year-old phenom Erin Brooks continued to dominate the competition in the South Pacific, posting a perfect 10-point ride on the opening day of competition.<br /><br />Brooks pulled into a massive barrel, weaving through deep section after deep section, before flying out, impressing the panel and everyone watching with her heroics on one of the biggest sets of the day.<br /><br />Brooks' performance gave her a massive lead over her competitor, Sophie McCulloch, who entered this event as a late injury replacement.<br /><br />Brooks, who won here in Fiji as a wildcard in 2024, backed up her 10 with an excellent 8.00-point ride for a series of razor-sharp turns to post the highest heat total of the event so far with an 18.00 (out of a possible 20), showing that once again, she is the woman to beat in Fiji. <br /><br />"That was definitely the best heat of my life," Brooks said.<br /><br />"All week I've been saying how much I love it here and how connected I feel to the wave and the place. I'm honestly just speechless and amazed and so thankful that I made that."<br /><br />"The whole way through the barrel I was just thinking, 'When is it going to get me? ' I just thought I was going to get hit by the foam ball, and then it just let me through."<br /><br />"I am just so, so happy; it was so fun."<br /><br />"Taking off on that wave, it had such a nice roll in, and then when I set up, it just had so many chandeliers, and as I was going through. I was like, ‘Please just let me through.'"<br /><br />"As soon as I came out into the channel, I went to my coach, Snake (Jake Paterson), and gave him a high five. He was screaming and hyping me up; I've never seen him so excited. We then swapped boards to put that one on ice."<br /><br />"It was definitely the best moment of my life for sure. I've been spending a lot of time here and feel really comfortable here."<br /><br />"It doesn't even feel like a contest here; we're all just hanging out, playing games, and surfing together. It's so special here."
