Artisan Project, is a collective of passionate individuals led by Palestinian-American textile designer Nina Mohammad. For more than 12 years she has been the visionary creative director behind Artisan Project and has dedicated over a decade to unearthing, nurturing, and uniting skilled artisans, makers, and creatives from diverse backgrounds. Guided by core values of honesty, fairness, and transparency, Nina's work goes beyond mere collaboration—it's a celebration of cultures, talents, and shared dreams.

Since its formation in 1977, the Ain Leuh Women's Cooperative has woven together generations of expertise, sustaining its artistry through minimal support and exposure. The intricate craft of weaving is more than a skill; it's a thread that binds the community, connecting farmers, herdsmen, yarn makers, and families. The cooperative's members, spanning various ages and abilities, have seamlessly integrated weaving into their daily lives, ensuring not just their livelihoods but also the preservation of ancient cultural practices.

At the heart of this collaboration lies a compelling narrative that bridges the past and present. The project involves transforming pre-cut t-shirts provided by Stussy, into captivating carpets that are a testament to ingenuity and resourcefulness. Nina, as the creative director, meticulously curates the artistic direction, drawing inspiration from ancestral carpets, art, vintage graphics, and the beauty of nature itself—capturing aerial landscapes, bodies of water, and the intricacies of flora. Her role doesn't end at ideation; she meticulously crafts color schemes and provides detailed guidance to the weavers at Ain Leuh, infusing each carpet with a distinctive essence that transcends time and tradition.

"This collaboration is a true amalgamation of creativity, talent, and heritage," says Nina. "We're not just making carpets; we're weaving stories that honor the past while embracing the future and are breathing life into threads of history, creating connections that are as enduring as the art itself."

As these remarkable carpets are unveiled, they stand as a testament to the remarkable partnership between Artisan Project and the Ain Leuh Women's Cooperative—a fusion of innovation and tradition, creativity, and craftsmanship.
