Get ready, Breckenridge—something big is dropping this winter. The Rockstar Energy Open is making its snowboarding debut at Breckenridge Ski Resort, December 19–21. Over three days, the mountain will turn into a full-on winter festival with high-energy competitions, live music, art, and an interactive fan village all set against Breck’s legendary peaks. Think world-class riders, fresh creative vibes, and a new spin on what a snowboarding event can be.<br /><br />The inaugural snowboarding edition of the Rockstar Energy Open will include both men’s and women’s divisions and spotlight a star-studded roster of Rockstar Energy athletes, including Olympic gold medalist Red Gerard, Colorado native Nik Baden, and fan-favorite Iris Pham. Powered by Rockstar’s sustained mind-body energy, these athletes will take center stage at Breckenridge Ski Resort, alongside many other invited pros and emerging talent.<br /><br />The Rockstar Energy Open will also debut a new world-class, rider-designed course created in partnership with Snow Park Technologies and the Breck Terrain Park Crew. The competition venue will feature a unique multi-terrain setup unlike traditional slopestyle, halfpipe, or big air formats.<br /><br />“I’m beyond excited for the Rockstar Energy Open to come to Breckenridge,” said Red Gerard, professional snowboarder and Rockstar Energy athlete. “Growing up riding in Summit County and seeing how the snowboarding community has evolved makes this event even more special. It’s going to be awesome competing alongside veterans and rookies and bringing the energy of snowboarding to my home turf.”<br /><br />The Rockstar Energy Open at Breckenridge will bring together more than 60 top snowboarders, including the top 10 men and women selected through the event’s Video Qualifying Series (VQS). In the lead-up to the live event, the VQS offers riders around the world the chance to compete alongside invited pros by submitting their best video parts on Platfrm channels between October 27 – November 23.<br /><br />A panel of veteran freestyle snowboard judges will review submissions and award weekly cash prizes for standout video parts, including Best Men’s Part, Best Women’s Part, Best Trick, and a Viewer’s Choice Award based on fan votes. While code yellow advises people to stay inside, the best kitesurfers in the world took advantage of the storm that raged along our coast.<br /><br />An action-packed show was given on the Dutch North Sea during Red Bull Megaloop. With a women's category for the first time this year.<br /><br />Two years were spent waiting for these extreme conditions so that the sixth edition of the kitesurfing competition could take place.<br /><br />Monday, September 15, was the day: wind force 8 with gains of 100km/h, waves 3 meters high, and a strong storm.<br /><br />48 hours in advance, a final green light was given for the contest, and kitesurfers from all over the world rushed to Noordwijk.<br /><br />Twenty-two national and international kitesurfers took to the water to perform a megaloop as high and extreme as possible.<br /><br />The Megaloop is one of the most difficult and extreme tricks within the kiteboarding scene.<br /><br />Kitesurfers set off on a wave and jump at least 15 meters high, only to send the kite around 360 degrees and be launched about a soccer field away.
