Introducing the newest addition to the Strip Mall Surfer series by Blockhead Skateboards - The Surfin’ Bird! Putting the F.U. in FUn! Launching 7/30/25 at noon PST on blockheadskateboards.com<br /><br />In this video we took influence from the 60’s skate film Americas Newest Sport and had a blast banging around some trash cans in the streets and the schoolyards.<br /><br />Revolutionary de-evolution, styled as if it’s from an alternate time line…one where the steel and clay wheel boards of the 60’s evolved in a different direction but the style remains in this classic surf shape.<br /><br />It’s a bit shorter with a shorter wheelbase for even more zippy turns. With it’s 11 inch width paired with narrower trucks it handles super surfy! Backstrom and Delzer and their newborn baby, Betty, and dog Buddy hit the road in their Toyota Sienna minivan, traveling from Tahoe to Revelstoke chasing snow throughout the peak of the season. Between ski action and landscape scenic of the country's best lift-accessed terrain, subplots unfold—specifically, the ever-changing balance of being a professional athlete and mother and a gender role reversal for her husband as the main caregiver for their daughter. Accompanied by Ingrid's parents, as well, for a large portion of the trip, a third dynamic develops with a generational role as the new grandparents (and parents) introduce the skiing culture to Betty as they did Ingrid.
