In celebration of his signature shoe with Vans, we spent a week trailing Curren at home touching on his earliest memories on a board, the current scene in Ventura, the trials and tribulations of living in LA, to the pressure of video parts on deadline…

In fact, Dirt was one of just two BMX disciplines contested at the first X Games in 1995. The X Games Dirt course is never the same, changing in size and flow from year-to-year. The course usually features between four and six jumps, and riders start from a raised platform that provides the speed necessary to negotiate the course. The jump takeoff lips typically are eight to 11 feet high, and riders jump over gaps that vary from 14 to 30 feet long. It was an incredible week of skate culture celebration!<br /><br />12 teams from China, Korea, Japan, and Thailand had one week to complete challenges throughout the city. Challenges ranged from specific tricks on certain spots, challenges inspired by the Adidas team, and random Chengdu city challenges like recording and performing a rap track, eating Sichuan hot pot, and other local delicacies like rabbit heads.<br /><br />Each challenge had to be filmed and sent to the judges to be awarded points. Kicking things off in San Bernardino, Jesse hits a new pool with the help of Steve Alba showing him the pin and proper carve grind.
