"It was the underground swell."<br /><br />That's Liam McNamara, who's been an integral part of Pipeline for decades. "Most of the heaviest and best locals were either in Abu Dhabi or down at the Haleiwa contest on Friday and Saturday, so it opened things up for folks to get waves out there they would have never got if the regular crew was out." (You’ll notice a few little-known names in the vid, which proves Liam’s point.)<br /><br />To be fair, it also wasn't all-time epic all day both days. Both Friday and Saturday saw a couple few hour windows of proper Pipe, which you see above. What you don't see is Friday afternoon's wash throughs and Saturday's swirly winds. There were moments of brilliance, of course, though. The highlights of this particular run of swell were Jamie O'Brien and Mike Stewart's double tube on Friday and Eala Stewart's highly technical tube on Saturday. <br /><br />"It was super cool to share wave with a legend like that," said Jamie. "Mike is the greatest bodyboarder of all time and one of the greatest legends who's ever surfed Pipeline. So it's always awesome to share a wave with him." <br /><br />Stewart agreed wholeheartedly. "Getting a barrel at Pipe is epic of course," he said. "But getting a barrel with someone else that’s competent, someone you have confidence he’s gonna make it too…that's next level. Thanks, Jamie!" <br /><br />As for Eala's Pipe wave of the day on Saturday, McNamara was beyond impressed. "Not many humans know how much goes into making a wave like that," he said. "The late drop, a bit of air, then three bumps, then the major, super fast rolling up the windows which turned into a forward thrust (never seen that in my life), then a major pump, then he disappeared -- I’m sure more pumping but it was invisible -- then he comes out and double claps with class. I've never seen a wave with so much going on!" (Stay tuned for Eala's take on the wave.) <br /><br />We tapped Hawaii forecaster Jonathan Warren for more insight on this particular run. "It’s right about this time in the season — late fall into early winter, often around the Thanksgiving holiday — that we typically start to see a shift to stronger and more westerly angled pulses to spawn from the North Pacific," he said. "And it’s not uncommon for a true NW banger to stamp “the season is here” across the Aloha State. Last year’s Black Friday of 2023 had an even more massive XXL size NW pulse, which ended up being the biggest swell of the season. Antoine Albeau has set another milestone in windsurfing.<br /><br />The French athlete, originally from La Rochelle, achieved a new world record for the fastest speed over 500 meters, reaching 53.49 knots (99.06 kilometers per hour) during the Lüderitz Speed Challenge in Namibia.<br /><br />Using a new 5.3 NeilPryde sail and a JP custom board from last year, the 52-year-old shattered his own record, which had stood for nine years.<br /><br />Albeau’s previous best, set in 2015 at the same location, was 53.27 knots (98.65 kilometers per hour). This time, he edged past it by 0.22 knots.<br /><br />His record-breaking performance recorded two different speed measurements: 53.71 knots from his GPS and 53.64 knots from the competition’s official device.<br /><br />Final verification came hours later through the event’s video timing system.<br /><br />“What a joy tonight to see my time and new windsurf speed world record validated after video verification,” said Albeau.<br /><br />“The feeling was just amazing when they confirmed it.”<br /><br />Reflecting on the moment, Albeau shared his anticipation: “I was expecting something like 53.32 knots, but when they announced 53.49, the gap was bigger than I hoped. It was incredible.”<br /><br />He added that reaching 99.06 kilometers per hour was a thrill and credited his success to cutting-edge equipment, including a prototype JP speed board and a newly designed 5.3 speed sail.<br /><br />The weather played a key role, with winds ranging from 40 to 45 knots. <br /><br />Albeau is now eyeing his next target: breaking the elusive 100-kilometer-per-hour barrier, which is only 0.51 knots (0.96 kilometers per hour) away.<br /><br />The 2024 Lüderitz Speed Challenge, running from November 4 to December 8, has been a stage for many personal and national records, making it a landmark event for the sport.<br /><br />Full story:<br />https://www.surfertoday.com/windsurfing/antoine-albeau-sets-a-new-world-speed-windsurfing-record

Then my mate called and he’s like, ‘WTF are you talking about. No you didn’t. You just keep bettering and bettering it’. Which is true. I’ve had a really special year between home, Tasmania, Fiji and Indo. Celebrating 30 Chocolate Years, Nike SB and Chocolate Skateboards introduce the limited-edition Chocolate Sun Dunk Low.<br /><br />This collaboration reimagines the classic SB Dunk Low silhouette with premium materials and meaningful details. Drawing inspiration from the 2003 "Sun Series" Richard Mulder board, the design incorporates rich chocolate brown and yellow pigskin nubuck overlays, a white OG mesh tongue, and "Chocolate" embroidery framed within a "Sun" circle on the foxing. The footbed features the original "Sun Series" graphic, while lace options in white, yellow, and red allow for personalized styling.<br /><br />The shoes are packaged in an oversized Chocolate-red box with a reissued Mulder "Sun Series" deck designed by Evan Hecox.
