Words from Stab's own Stace Galbraith, who's featured in this episode:
"I was first introduced to Dark Arts construction when I watched Taj Burrow’s Stab in the Dark and saw his whole quiver wrapped in carbon. That was January of 2021. A few months later, we got to see the best John John Florence has ever looked in 2ft onshore mush when he tore apart his opening round heat at the Rip Curl Cup in Newcastle. Of course we know of John’s endless talent when the waves are firing, but it was his small-wave surfing that looked like it could use some extra spark. He’d found it in that particular quiver, which had been developed during the summer break with Jon Pyzel and the team at Dark Arts in San Diego," Stace said.

"The gist of Dark Arts is this: a stringer-less EPS core wrapped in carbon fiber, then vacuum sealed to finish. This method creates a lighter, stronger, and more responsive surfboard than traditional PU, or even most EPS alternatives on the market," Stace continued.

"Getting to surf this board around home with some special guests was an absolute treat. With the different levels of ability on full display, it was comforting to see the same characteristics of the board shining through regardless of whose feet were in the wax."
