![The bestselling “Dumpster Diver” model of the early 2010’s was excavated out of a Ventura trashcan by Dane Reynolds and surfed to smithereens in Salina Cruz.<br /><br />“I wanted to ride that board [at the Trestles CT event], but back then there was a really weird thing about riding a groveler in a contest,” Dane told Stab in an interview two weeks ago, “The judges wouldn’t give you scores… so we basically took the groveler I liked in Mexico, pulled in the tail a little, and put a shortboard nose on it to hide the groveler-ness.
