A short film about the life and philosophy of perhaps the most impactful surf film of all time: Morning of the Earth. 50 years after its 1972 release, filmmaker Albert Falzon reflects on a lifetime of living in the present. We knew it’d be good. We didn’t know it’d be this good. The swell that doubled down along the Australian east coast on the weekend had been lurking around the forecast charts for at least a week. It looked like a classic mid-winter reversal of form — a swell from the east after three months of south? This is kinda predictable, we all hope for it. But as the winds began to build in the northern Tasman Sea last Thursday night, some kind of switch was flicked, and within 48 hours, everywhere from Straddie to Sydney was lighting up. It was the kind of surf people travel thousands of k’s to find, yet here it was, right on everyone’s doorsteps.
