YT Channel Video Videos For 29th of March, 2024

The DIY ethos is alive and well in Thailand. Local and internatonal skateboarders have invested me and money to develop DIY infrastructure to skate. The benefits of this were particularly clear during the COVID-19 pandemic when local parks closed down and the DIY free spaces withstood the economic and social pressures brought on by the pandemic. Providing skateboarders spaces to exercise their imagination whilst a dystopian feeling of entrapment enclosed on the city.<br /><br />"I Think I’m Done" was filmed over the last five years after work hours and it captures skateboarding in the streets of Bangkok and two DIY spots—Nagiya Bowl and SLB.<br /><br />Nagiya Bowl was situated behind a Japanese restaurant and it was lit up at night. The development of the bowl was orchestrated by Daisuke from Japan who built the spot because of a lack of similar skate infrastructure in Bangkok. Daisuke taught Thai and expat skaters how to mix concrete and build tranny. This in return inspired the development of other DIY spots and bowl orientated skateboarding. The bowl unfortunately closed down, but its influence can be seen and felt across DIY spots in Thailand.<br /><br />SLB, Suan Luang Backyard, was predominantly built by Rainy. It initially started as a spine ramp, and it developed into a fully fleshed backyard DIY. Rainy graciously opens his door to local and traveling skateboarders to skate the spot at his house. Rainy has also been building DIY spots across Thailand and he is on a quest to keep the DIY spirit alive. He is currently finishing up a DIY on a rice field just outside of Bangkok.<br /><br />The love for street skateboarding and DIY spots were elemental to the forma􀆟on of The Blaf Boys and their creative pursuits.
