It’s been an odd swell season in Hawaii, thanks mostly to the El Niño-driven storm track. After a recent run of north swells and challenging winds, a late-season flurry of westerly swells and well-angled trades is on tap. Breezy E trades are expected all day — stronger than ideal, but direction is OK — side-offshore flow. Great swell direction (WNW 295-315°) and period (15-17 seconds) for Pipeline to perform. Occasional Backdoor waves, which will be most prominent later this afternoon.
