One of the coolest things about doing a skateboard company is all of the dynamic and creative people I get to work with. I met Colt Bowden as a young skateboarder and we sponsored him as an amateur on Toy Machine back in 2004. And although he didn’t end up going pro for us, we always kept in contact and it’s been amazing to watch him build a family and become an amazing artist. Whether it’s building and restoring vintage cars, sign painting, making zines, or doing skateboard graphics, he has found a path to a successful creative life, and I’m happy we get to work with him twenty years on!<br /><br />- Ed

But before we close the curtain on Season 2, it's time for one last ride. <br /><br />-----<br /><br />About Season 2:<br /><br />Our six riders from last season are back for another season and heading to Woodward West for another week unlike any other. Riders still battle to gain points for their respective teams, but are riding and stacking clips all-week.<br /><br />About The Cast:<br /><br />Mia Custer <br /><br />Straight out of South Jersey, Mia is one of the top-ranked BMX racers in the US in her age group. A level of bike control beyond her years shines through in every facet of her riding and has translated into shredding trails and ramps. Mia's relentlessly upbeat attitude and perseverance are a tremendous asset to #TeamBestwick and set an incredible example for young BMX riders across the board. <br /><br />Marshall Gehrke<br /><br />The term 'well-rounded' doesn't begin to scratch the surface of Marshall Gehrke's athletic ability. Marshall started as a BMX racer in Antioch, IL, at four years old and rapidly rose through the ranks, winning multiple National Championships. Taking a break from the track, he's since switched focus to destroying the ramps and trails at home and camp. <br /><br />Kevin Robinson Jr.<br /><br />The first-born son of one of the greatest BMX vert riders in the sport, Kevin has the spirit of BMX running deep through his veins. Back home in Barrington, RI, Kevin began riding skateparks as soon as the training wheels came off. Primarily focused on riding ramps, Kevin conquers terrifying maneuvers with ease and keeps his teammates on their toes.<br /><br />Keir Sirlin<br /><br />The youngest member of our cast, Keir, is a powerhouse on a BMX bike. From Salt Lake City to skateparks all over the country, Keir pushes herself each time she puts her feet on the pedals. As a result, she's become a regular fixture on the women's contest circuit. Keir has an undoubtedly bright future in BMX.<br /><br />Tyler Lamb<br /><br />A lifetime of motocross racing has shaped Tyler into a BMX rider with unmatched versatility. Hailing from Melbourne, FL, Tyler is equally at home riding a set of trails, huge ramps, or a large set of stairs. Honing his skills regularly at the famed Grapefruit Trails near his home, Tyler knows his way around a BMX bike in any situation. <br /><br />Jake Rutkowitz<br /><br />A love of the sport seems inevitable when your dad is a lifelong BMX rider. Jake has been riding since his earliest years in Palmerton, PA, and it's evident in his unbelievable ability on a bike. “It was my first time there, and it’s super heavy, you don’t even realise,” said Matt Bromley after a day-long stint in the brine at one of Morocco’s crown jewel waves. “Reminds a lot of J-Bay, but crazier.”<br /><br />This gigantic North Atlantic bomb swell began life on the other side of the world, unloading on the Outer Banks, aka a 200-mile stretch of islands that skirt along the North Carolina coastline. As it moved across the Atlantic, this storm set up a long-period swell, straight into the coast of western Europe and northern Africa. Some spots handled the accompanying wind well, others were blown out and nasty but beyond XXL.<br /><br />As this moved into Morocco, conditions settled, the wind swung and the swell hammered – it was on for the best swell of the season so far.<br /><br />Video by Zakaria Adli, Francisco Antunes and Yassine Ziouani. The 10th edition of La Vaca Gigante in 2024 showcased an awe-inspiring display of skill and bravery as 24 surfers, both local and international, tackled the imposing Cantabrian waves, reaching heights of over 23 feet.<br /><br />Indar Unanue emerged triumphant, claiming victory in the prestigious event.<br /><br />The competition began under cloudy skies in Cueto, with minimal wind, and the trial round featured seven surfers vying for the last spot in the main event.<br /><br />Frenchman Pierre Rollet dominated the trial round with 24.11 points, earning a spot in the final phase.<br /><br />The main event featured 18 surfers in three heats, competing for a €10,000 prize pool.<br />The audience gathered at the cliffs, witnessing 45-minute heats where surfers aimed to accumulate points from their two best waves.<br /><br />Local talent shone in the initial rounds, with Nico García and Nano Riego securing top spots in the first round.<br /><br />However, foreign surfers Indar Unanue and Nic Lamb delivered outstanding performances in the second round.<br /><br />The final showdown attracted around 10,000 spectators, with six finalists facing an hour-long heat in challenging seas.<br /><br />Nico García and Nano Riego claimed third and second place, respectively, while Pierre Rollet narrowly missed the podium.<br /><br />Indar Unanue stole the spotlight with two waves above 9 points, accumulating an impressive combined score of 29.53 out of 30.<br /><br />Indar Unanue's victory in the 10th edition of La Vaca Gigante is particularly noteworthy as he returned after a hiatus, clinching the championship after finishing as the runner-up three times before.<br /><br />Reflecting on his win, Unanue expressed gratitude to the organizers and everyone involved, stating, "I was very excited to win the championship because, after several podiums, I was really looking forward to it.
