Franklin Serpa and Rachel Bonhote-Mead have taken out the 2023 Red Bull Pool Clash at Alaïa Bay in Sion, Switzerland.<br /><br />The Brazilian and the Swiss-Aussie surfers claimed the amateur surfing competition at the iconic Swiss Alps wave pool powered by Wavegarden.<br /><br />The event was held under sunny blue skies and hosted and judged by professional surfers and Olympic athletes Leonardo Fioravanti and Teresa Bonvalot.<br /><br />The contest was intense, and the participants did their best to impress the judges.<br /><br />Unlike World Tour competitions, scoring was based on three judging criteria: variety of maneuvers, execution, and risk-taking.<br /><br />The Red Bull Pool Clash Contest offered an exciting competitive format for both men and women.<br /><br />The qualifying round on Saturday began with free practice, followed by Round 1 - the qualifying jam session, in which 60 male and 18 female surfers fought for qualification.<br /><br />The top-performing athletes then qualified for Round 2, where only the top 30 remained.<br /><br />Sunday was dedicated to the final rounds, with quarterfinals, semifinals, and finals, in which the surfers fought in a direct duel for victory.<br /><br />In addition to the competition, Fioravanti and Bonvalot thrilled audiences with breathtaking performances throughout the weekend, particularly at the Air Section Show, where they performed spectacular aerial tricks.<br /><br />The contestants were also surprised by the two stars and received valuable technical advice during their training session.<br /><br />On Saturday and Sunday afternoons, the audience and surfers were able to experience a journey through time with the retro longboard session.<br /><br />The surfers rode their longboards and immersed themselves in the 1980s aesthetic by dressing up and showcasing their best wigs in the lineup.<br /><br />Red Bull Pool Clash 2023 | Results<br /><br />Men<br /><br />1.
