French freediver Arnaud Jerald broke a world record after diving to an impressive 122 meters (400 feet) without an oxygen tank on July 20 at Dean's Blue Hole, Long Island, Bahamas.
The performance took place on the first day of Vertical Blue, the "Wimbledon of Freediving," placing Jerald at the top of the overall standing with no one diving deeper on the same day.
Equipped with a custom-made neoprene wetsuit and ultra-light carbon fins, Jerald completed the dive in 105 seconds to reach the bottom and 109 seconds to ascend, setting a new record.
Aged 27, Jerald has broken the world record eight times, becoming the leader in the bi-fins category, surpassing legendary Umberto Pelizzari's record of six in the 1990s.
The Vertical Blue gathers 44 top freedivers worldwide at Dean's Blue Hole, creating a thrilling atmosphere for spectators as Jerald achieves his record-breaking dive.
