"Session: Skate Sim" is the most authentic and grounded skateboarding experience in the most legendary spots on earth.<br /> <br />Montréal, Canada-based creā-ture Studios, the creatives behind Session: Skate Sim, are not just developers but also skaters themselves and were inspired to create the game by the golden era of skateboarding.<br /><br />The game's primary goal is to make you experience what skateboarding really is - an incredible culture where there are no other goals other than expressing your creativity and achieving success through hard work, perseverance, and bits of madness for no one else other than yourself.<br /> <br />In celebration of "Session: Skate Sim" Nintendo Switch release earlier this month, Jeffrey Spicer, game producer at creā-ture Studios, talks about the development of the game being a passion project.<br /><br />Skateboarding in Montréal, Canada, in the winter can be challenging outdoors, so bringing skateboarding to the comfort of the couch has a high risk with a high reward element – just like in real life, and trying to get people on a skateboard in real life through playing the game.<br /><br />The skaters you’ll see performing the moves are Jessy Jean-Bart, who is internationally recognized by renowned magazines such as Exposer mag, Sugar Skate mag, Low Card, Solo Skate mag, King Skateboard mag, and SBC Skateboard magazine, among others.<br /><br />From there, Jessy made his transition to professional skateboarding after he signed contracts with skateboarding brands, currently working with over ten sponsors from Diz Industries, Vans, Vision Street Wear, Deathwish, Shake Junt, Bones Wheels, Ace Trucks, Nixon, Yerba Mateína and Insta360.<br /><br />The other skater is Étienne Trudeau, who coaches at Taz in Montréal and has been a part of and doing a lot for the community since the age of 12 and is a skating consultant for the town of Montréal.<br /><br />Jessy’s skateboarding history and achievements:<br /> <br />1. Montreal Games Skateboarding Ambassador 2022. The Montreal Games are the first sports competitions for thousands of young people aged 6 to 12 on the Island of Montreal. This event brings together more than 15,000 young people in the qualifications, 5,000 young people in the finals, and 22,000 spectators and presents 27 sports on 18 competition sites.<br /><br />2. Founder of the Sparrow Sessions, an inclusive skateboarding event focused on style, creativity, and determination. It is an inclusive space where everyone feels welcome to try skateboarding.<br /><br />3. Applied Arts awards winner In the COVID-19 response category & unpublished/personal photography category In 2021 featuring Felix Renaud. Applied Arts is Canada’s authoritative voice on visual communications.<br /><br />4. 1st place winner of Defi Hors Piste 2020 Men’s skateboarding category. DHP is the largest gathering of board sports in Quebec and offers a unique event experience in Canada.<br /><br />5. 1st place winner Le maître de la maison blanche skateboarding competition in 2020.<br /> <br />Étienne Trudeau skateboarding history and achievements:<br /> <br />1. Started to be involved in the skateboarding community at the age of 12. Meeting Yannick Malek at Orkus skatepark and started helping in building ramps for the skatepark and some events like Under Pressure. I was doing some demos and stuff with the team too.<br /><br />2. Southpark was another great time for their young age, and spending my time at the skatepark every day, too, having lots of fun. Now it’s called SPIN skatepark/skate shop.<br /><br />3. Worked and did different kinds of work with a lot of different companies in the industry, like Technical Skateboards, Jackalope, Dime, Taz, Spin, and many more.<br /><br />4. Coaching at Taz for the sports concentration school program.<br /><br />5. A short surf video by A&H Vessels, twin fin surfboards session.<br /><br />A late season trip with some friends. We brought 15 boards between us surfing something different almost every surf. Often changing boards and fins mid surf. A lot of fun. The best waves we had gotten were when it was pouring rain so there was unfortunately no clips, but plenty of uncrowded and fun surf over 4 days. I like taking a trip with Jimmy at least once a year to really dial in some new stuff we’re working on and watching in person is much more beneficial than just watching clips. Altogether, a fun trip with friends.
