2022 Quemao Class | Bodyboarding | Day 1 Highlights

The 7th edition of the 2022 Billabong Quemao Class kicked off with excellent wave conditions, sun, and an audience excited about the event.

Before the start of the competition, the surfing community, competitors, and the people of La Santa paid tribute to David Infante "Fula," in whose memory this event is held every year.

"It is an honor to be able to organize this special moment to remember our friend "El Fula" and to see the people of the town of La Santa and the competitors participating in this tribute," said Francisco Saenz, organizer of the event.

After the surfers, it was the bodyboarders' turn.

During the morning, it has been possible to witness incredible performances by David Sánchez from Lanzarote, Armides Soliveres from Gran Canaria, and Octavio González and Aitor Ojeda, both from Fuerteventura.

The first semifinal will have Fuerteventura athletes Octavio González, Aitor Ojeda, and Ruyman Rey, as well as Armides Soliveres from Gran Canaria.

Three times champion of the event, Frenchman Amaury Lavernhe, returned to La Santa ready to win again.

He got today's best bodyboarding wave with 9.50 points out of 10.

"This is a spectacular event and to be able to compete in these conditions with the level is extraordinary," commented the Frenchman.
