Letícia Bufoni and Trevor McClung rolled out their best tricks to delight the raucous crowd right at the foot of the Eiffel Tower to win 2021's Red Bull Paris Conquest.<br /><br />Red Bull Paris Conquest was the most energetic skate contest in recent memory, bringing new obstacle layouts, a head-to-head eliminator format, and new energies to Paris' Trocadero by the Eiffel Tower.<br /><br />Canadian TJ Rogers delivered a clinic in buttery ledge tech and showcased what is undeniably the best switch frontside 360 ollie in the game - his consistent trick bag enough for fourth in the men's event.<br /><br />Goofy-footed Aurélien Giraud broke three boards with his stupendous power and skated the semi-finals and finals on several borrowed boards to power his way to second thanks to a repertoire of big-block hammers, transition wonders, and a hardlflip late kickflip unseen outside of YouTube.<br /><br />Giraud's compatriot and crowd favorite Vincent Milou also snapped a board against TJ Rogers in his successful run-off for third, but it was American McClung who claimed the 2021 men's title on the back of thrilling moves like a switch backside 360 down the Bercy 5 block.<br /><br />In the women's event, Brazilian Bufoni demonstrated some of the strength in depth that marks out her talent by powering to the title, mixing the ability to go big with truly remarkable consistency.<br /><br />Bufoni's scheduled final rival Aori Nishimura of Japan had to withdraw from competing after an ankle injury with her last trick of the semi-final - having already secured a guaranteed second place - so a spontaneous three-way skate-off was held to decide the rest of the final four positions.<br /><br />Bufoni rolled out against both the impressive and effervescent local Charlotte Hym - who rode the crowd's energy to an excellent third place - and Argentina's Eugenia Ginepro, who used her transition skills to solid effect on the melting house and wave spots to bank a solid fourth spot.

“The first time that I skated with Kyonosuke was at the Fire Lab rail when I was working on my “What The Prod” part. He filmed a line with a big flip front board in a handful of tries, but even from that small amount I saw, I could already recognize a mature taste in his skating. Later on I got to watch him cruise the Primitive Park and get more of a sense of the tricks that he would do, and it struck me how much he has an old soul to his skating. I don’t know who mentored him or who his OG’s were that put him on to skating, but he skates as if he grew up watching the same people that I grew up watching. Although we’ve only known each other for a short time, he already fits in so naturally with the team that it feels like he’s been around way longer. For Summer 2021, Carhartt WIP has collaborated with the iconic Berlin-based skate shop and brand Civilist to create a nine-piece capsule collection.<br /><br />Carhartt WIP x Civilist sees the Berlin imprint take a playful approach, as Carhartt WIP staples – such as cotton jersey hoodies and the Single Knee Pant – are emblazoned with a hand-drawn smiley face graphic that serves as the collaboration’s key motif. The same technicolor approach to branding is amplified when applied to both a printed short sleeve shirt and set of three decks, as a warped 3D iteration of the same icon appears on a kaleidoscopic background. <br /><br />More muted options appear in the form of a button down short sleeve shirt with tonal detailing and a take on the classic Script Logo T-Shirt. The capsule is rounded off by a co-branded neck pouch.<br /><br />Founded in 2009 in the Mitte area of the German capital, Civilist continues to act as a cultural hub and meeting point for the city’s skaters, while also being one of the few businesses that has survived the onslaught of gentrification in the surrounding area. It has done so by remaining steadfastly and reassuringly authentic. Like many skate shops, Civilist would eventually go on to produce its own apparel, with a focus on well-made basics with a unique graphic touch. Over time, this became a brand in its own right, with Civilist also collaborating with the likes of Converse CONS and the mixed-media artist Joe Roberts, aka LSD WORLDPEACE.<br /><br />The accompanying images for this collaboration were shot by David Daub.
