With a slight delay on the Streetstyle boards*, we’re going to take this opportunity to make lemons out of lemonade (or is it the other way around?). The ultra iconic Grumpy Man character inked by Ron Cameron in the mid/late 80’s needs more time to shine and this time through you and your creativity in the form of a “Searching For Grumpy Man” contest.<br /><br />You’ve seen this guy before...the one cursing and mumbling at you on the sidewalk as you bomb past him. He doesn’t skate, he doesn’t relate. <br /><br />So with Halloween just around the corner it’s time to have some fun, we want to see your best Grumpy Man impression. We want to see a photo or video of you, your dad, mom, neighbor, friend, enemy, dog, cat or whoever doing their best take on ‘ol grumpy. Be creative and think outside of the box if you’re so inclined, make it fun or do a serious portrait…use the board graphic, ad or text on the t-shirt as inspiration but (just about) anything goes.<br /><br />Simply post it on instagram with the tags: #searchingforgrumpyman #blockheadskateboards @blockhead_skateboards on or before November 3rd. No Instagram account? The Quiksilver Pro France is by far the most varied and unpredictable Championship Tour stop. From 2- to 10-foot and back again—and sometimes all in the same day—the constantly changing waves in France keep competitors on their toes.<br /><br />This year was no exception. With an overly active North Atlantic, swell was never an issue for the event, which was ultimately won by Jeremy Flores in pumping (albeit tricky) Hossegor barrels. The hard part was timing the event with the mercurial tide and wind. Plenty of junky mornings morphed into firing afternoons, with other fleeting moments of perfection peppered throughout the waiting period. While the event was on hold, the ‘CT’s stars were always ready to pounce, jumping in and out of the water multiple times everyday in hopes of finding a diamond in the rough between their heats. As you’ll see in this episode of “Amp Sessions”, Jordy Smith, Griffin Colapinto, Italo Ferreira and more found plenty of heaving sandbar slabs during the freesurfs. Bordeaux was the last stop of choice for The Volcom Garden Experience tour 2019 in Europe, and the music & party gods blessed us with warm weather & good vibes.<br />Les Vivres de L’art is a special venue including galleries, two closed gardens, and a plaza including a boat and a bunker full of sculptures from local artist Jean François Buisson<br />The creative market was a hit with local artists and friends showing/selling their works Babat, Tortuga666, Mondo Zero collective, Badwolf & Witches, Margaux Henry Thiullent, records shops Superlovedisc and Club 33 45, apparel entrepreneurs HY skate bag and Eudoxie, but also foodtrucks and the Volcom Store Bordeaux.<br />The gallery hosted the exhibition of screenprinted posters from Elzo Durt, photos from Jelle Keppens and the collab posters from Mike Giant with artists Sinpiggyhead, FreakCity, Elzo Durt and Hugo Zorro.<br />As the afternoon ended, spirits got high, beers were flowing and the garden DJs got louder…the gigs started in the gallery with Oli G’s and Tim Tang’s Leopard Ale, quickly followed by Pizza Knife front man cleaning the dance floor with his body to set the tone.<br />Then, Rotterdam’s Iguana Death Cult went full on party mode and got everyone swinging, but the local superband Magnetix were next and brought their fans along, nailing an intense and heavy set.<br />Mozes And The Firstborn closed the shows with another great gig from sound to stage performance, rumors are that was one of the last ones…, we will miss you guys!<br />Thanks to everyone involved with this event and the whole tour, from artists & organizers to the public, the big Volcom family vibes were great.<br />Photos from Vincent Coupeau and video from Kam
