He embarks, alone in his own boat, into the home of the most iconic whitewater in the world, the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon.<br />Erik has already overcome some stunning challenges for both sighted and blind people, including climbing Mount Everest. Whitewater kayaking is different, the water moves unpredictably, the rocks that make up that canyon walls are absolutely unforgiving, the roar cuts him off from his guide’s voice and threatens his kayak, his friends are also in equal jeopardy and fighting for their own survival. He soon discovers that all of the preparation and practice are not going to be enough. Listen back to all Carhartt WIP Radio shows: <br />https://soundcloud.com/carharttwip<br /><br />PASS~PORT / Trent Evans:<br />For Spring/Summer 2019, Carhartt WIP has partnered with Australian skate brand PASS~PORT on an exclusive collection, comprised of twelve co-branded pieces as well as three skate decks. To coincide with this, we asked the brand’s founder, Trent Evans, to conduct a Carhartt WIP Radio special.<br /><br />Much like the collaborative collection, which took inspiration from Australia’s Northern Territory, Evans’ approach to this mix drew heavily from the music of his homeland. The resulting selection is diverse in its sound, with music by the likes of tropical drum machine wizard Document Swell, twisted house seducer Andras, Neo-New-Waver Kirkis from Melbourne, and industrial darkwaver Buzz Kull from Sydney. Their music is intermingled with rock and post-punk infused songs by bands like Display Homes and Low Life.<br /><br />To accompany the Carhartt WIP Radio PASS~PORT special by Trent Evans, we called him up Down Under and had a little chat with him about the tunes he selected and how sound in general influences his creative output. Since 2013 he has released instrumental records on labels such as Melting Pot Music and Jakarta, with a style that seductively blends soul- and jazz-influenced grooves.<br /><br />FloFilz’s first two albums as a beatmaker were collaborative works, and in late 2014 he released his first solo LP titled "Metronom". Four instrumental albums have since followed, cementing his reputation as jazz-connoisseur producer, who seeks to open up the genre to a new generation of listeners.<br /><br />For his Carhartt WIP Radio show, he melds older work with tracks from his upcoming album "Transit".
