ヴァルカナイズドソールはアッパーとソールを化学反応で接着する方法により作られています。最大の特徴はアウトソールをアッパーと接着させる際にフォキシングテープと呼ばれるラバー製のテープを靴の外周に巻き付け接着します。この方法を採用する事によりつま先に力をかける動作(地面を蹴り出す時)の際にソールを屈曲しやすくします。一方カップソールはポリウレタンやEVA等の素材を成形した一体型のソールをアッパーと接着(接着後に縫製で止めている物もあります。)する方法です。一体型ソールは形状に変化をもたせる事や軽量化する事にたけています。またヴァルカナイズドソールと比較すると耐久性が高い事でも知られています。しかしカップソールには特有の柔らかさを持つラバーソールを使用出来ないというデメリットがあります。近年ではフォキシングテープを使用しない一体型ソールを使用するヴァルカナイズドソールも存在します。ソールを一体型にすると耐久性は向上しますがヴァルカナイズドソール特有の柔らかさは失われます。POSSESSED SHOEはボードフィールに重点を置きデザインしています。ラバーのアウトソールを使用したフォキシングテープを使用するヴァルカナイズドソールにこだわっています。 ...
