From Duke Kahanamoku and Eddie Aikau, to Andy Irons and Bethany Hamilton, it isn't a huge surprise to see on-going talent flooding out of Hawaii.<br /><br />One year old, Kamapua'a, also known as 'Kama the Surfing Pig', certainly lives up to that Hawaiian reputation. Born on the island of Oahu, Kama began surfing at 3 months old with his owner, Kai Holt. Now one year later, the 160 pound pig is a well known local at beaches like Sandy's and Makaha for his strategic 'hang hooves' maneuver, and ability to put a smile on anyone's face. <br /><br />Kama lives with Kai, and 17 fellow pig friends, turkeys, dogs, and sheep on their farm in Waimanalo, Hawaii. Serrated edging and ridged accents prevent compression wrinkles while a dual density insole—now standard throughout the Crown line—supplies additional padding. <br /><br />The Avex’s upper is comprised of an internal mesh bootie and an asymmetric, hot melt cage. The hot melt process uses heat to fuse reinforcements to the suede and ensures necessary support at high wear areas without adding extra weight. Diamond mesh supplies ventilated padding as a gusseted tongue allows for easy access to the Avex’s comfortable interior. <br /><br />The Avex makes its debut in a white suede and mesh colorway set atop a speckled gum outsole and white SUPRAFOAM midsole.
