Meet Turf War, a five-piece rock band by way of Atlanta, GA who were formed as a bedroom recording project by singer/guitarist John Robinson in 2007 in Augusta, GA before becoming a full band in mid-2008 and moving to Atlanta. With a style that can be described as gritty, catchy Southern-tinged Indie/Punk rock. ASP WCT rookie Nat Young from Santa Cruz, California, was impressively strong on his backhand throughout the event, leading him to his first World Championship Tour final ever against De Souza. Neither De Souza and Young were favored to make the finals over the defending champions and Aussie locals Mick Fanning and Taj Burrow, but they sure put on an excellent show at Bells Beach in the 4-6 ft surf.<br /><br />In 52 years of competition, the Rip Curl Pro has never seen a South American competitor ring the bell and today, De Souza made history.<br />Footage provided by Rip Curl
