It’s time to jump back in the van for a throwback to summertime in and around Portland, Oregon. Josh “Peacock” is back at the wheel, and over five days the squad hits nine skateparks, one hotel pool, and even score a session inside Mark “Red” Scott’s behemoth indoor garage bowl.<br /><br />Day 1 kicks off in Portland proper at the infamous Burnside DIY that Red helped create (along with nearly every other giant cement park in Oregon). The session was wild, featuring a special roll-in built just for the occasion. It also happened to be the day of the Rockstar Energy Open finals, so a ton of people pulled up to Burnside immediately after.<br /><br />Then they take off for four days with Liam Pace, Issei Sakurai, David Gravette, Yuro Nagahara, Eric Hutchinson, Tucker Fitzsimmons, Myles Pacheo, Tommy Calvert, Phoenix Sinnerton, Yurin Fuji, and John Worthington. Riding all terrains in snowboarding is what Sam Taxwood grew up on and has undeniably shaped his riding style today. From early days lapping street spots to charging bigger mountain terrain, Sam’s love for snowboarding has always been rooted in riding everything. While his first video parts were street-driven, the time he spent on his board prepared him for terrain beyond urban areas.<br /><br />Growing up riding with childhood friend Gabe Ferguson, and later connecting with riders like Nik Baden, pushed Sam to evolve his approach and perspective. Dedicated to empowering women, girls and nonbinary individuals through skateboarding, Exposure Skate is building a true community, and the 2025 event brought people from around the world to continue the mission in full effect. “At its core, Exposure has always been about the love of skateboarding,” says Exposure Skate president and founder, pro skateboarder and Olympian Amelia Brodka.<br /><br />Starting with just 34 skaters at the first event in 2012, see how Exposure Skate has grown in its 14th edition to host 200 girls from 21 countries.<br /><br />Learn the origin story and hear about the Exposure Skate journey from Amelia, the person who truly breathed life into the community. Professional skaters Nora Vasconcellos, Lizzie Armanto, Vanessa Torres and Steve Caballero each join the conversation, sharing how the Exposure Skate scene has made a positive impact on their lives and their communities at large.<br /><br />You’ll also meet Jess Robledo, the program director and Amelia’s general partner in all things nonprofit and community.
