In the early 80’s skateboarding was nearly dead. Those of us that carried on after all the skateparks were dozed were loners, rebels, misfits, punks and outcasts picked on by the jocks but we didn’t give a shit, we liked it that way....skateboarding was ours, we were the rulers of the streets, pools, ditches and backyards!

With that rebellious spirit I launched Blockhead in 1985 in my parents garage with the first three models, the Streetstyle, Chaos and Rebel. The Rebel was a classic early 80’s shape and the graphics I inked were based on the old mobster/ crime movies that I really dug the style of.

To celebrate the 40 year anniversary of Blockhead and the Rebel board we made a small batch of 30 Rebel’s in a black dip with the old school hole pattern and screen printed just like they were in 1985! These are signed and numbered and this is the last time we’re going to do this so best to grab one pronto!

Also ready to grip and rip we made 50 teal dip “rider” Rebel’s featuring new school holes and a bit steeper concave and tail than the signed and numbered version with a slight rocker/ spoon nose for a better ride. You best dust off your 80’s moves because these are a blast! (from the past).

Set your alerts, dropping Wednesday 10/15 at noon PST on blockheadskateboards.com !

Much thanks for your support over the past 40 years!

Dave B.

Right about the time of the legendary 1985 Sactramento Streetstyle contest, I launched Blockhead Skateboards in my parents Roseville garage. With a good chunk of all the money I had to my name I took out a full page ad in Thrasher Magazine to promote the first three Blockhead models, the Streetstyle, Rebel and Chaos. The Streetstyle was the most progressive street specific board on the market at the time with its 4" nose, the longest available throughout most of the 80's!

We just reissued the 1985 Streetstyle in the original red color for the first time ever to celebrate Blockhead's 40th anniversary, these are signed and numbered and feature the old school hole pattern and screen printed graphics just like they were in 1985. Also available is a modern hole "rider" version with a bit steeper concave and tail for better functionality. They're just as fun to ride now as. they were in 1985! Pick one up at blockheadskateboards.com before they all sell out.

Much thanks for all your support for the past 40 years!
Dave Bergthold AKA Blockhead Dave

Blockhead is 40!!! Please enjoy this short video I put together to celebrate the occasion…just a small slice of the Blockhead story.

We returned to the motherland (Roseville CA) a while back and met up with Dave Lynch and Dave Hays who both worked for Blockhead in the early days (Thanks dudes!).

First we did a stop at the house I grew up in and then started Blockhead in the garage in 1985 when I was 21. Then we paid a visit to the Blockhead shop (86-89) and adjoining Skates Plus skate shop, Roseville’s first in 1985.

We had a fun time reminiscing about the good ol’ days, talking some crap and attempting to skate the super janky bank behind the old shop on the first 3 Blockhead boards, the Streetstyle, Rebel and Chaos. Great times! Great friends! - Dave Bergthold

FYI: Streetstyle reissues launch 9/24/25, Rebel reissues soon after!

Also featuring: Laban Pheidias, Chris Lambert and Jesse Hotchkiss

The Laban switchface board measures at 9” in the middle and has double variable holes (16) so you can adjust in numerous ways to fit your skateboarding style. After over a year of fine tuning, Laban and myself came up with a shape that works great either direction. You can use the round end as your nose and the squared end as your tail like Laban or flip it around and go round tail and square nose like I do…not only that, you can adjust the lengths of your nose and tail.

Then there’s the graphics! Choose from “Black Light” version or psychedelic double dipped stains and screaming day-glow screen print. Laban called in his good buddy Will Carsola to ink the graphics, among other things you may recognize his art from all the Liquid Death cans.

We hope you’re excited as we were to ride one of these!

Click on over to blockheadskateboards.com to check "em out, they launch Tuesday the 1st 2023 at noon PST.

Laban and I thank you for your support!
Dave B.

Print, spray, print, sign, number and done! Yeah I almost don’t want it to be over because it’s been so much damn fun! Damon helped me print the boards…because honestly I’m pretty rusty, I haven’t done it on the daily since the 80’s so thought it best to get some help from a pro to finish these up right after all this work.

All in all with everything that went into this project (including the videos) there must be at least a day and a half on each board….but no complaints, I’ve loved every minute of it, I hope you’ve enjoyed the process and the final result.

Now it’s time to exit through the gift shop and pick up a souvenir. The boards will be live for orders this Wednesday the 5th at noon PST (sorry, said the 4th previously). Boards should be up on the web site for preview by Monday afternoon as well as pricing.

Much thanks!
Dave B

Crack that whip! I honestly had to watch some U-Toob instructional videos on how to crack a whip…. Then I channeled my inner cowboy or Indiana Jones for this one…well actually more like my inner Devo. It made some really cool unique and random paint splatters that added to the lawnmower “spin art” and smashed glass and spray paint.

The 13 boards will be available October 4th 2022 on blockheadskateboards.com . Get yerself on the mailing list so you don't miss out! Tune in tomorrow for more mayhem and destruction, thanks for watching!
Dave B.

Spin to win! I’ve had the idea to spin some boards for a few years but just didn’t have time to figure out how to do it….then it hit me, a lawnmower!!! So it just fit naturally into the Chainsaw Massacre series…but it was sketchy and scary fast (even with a speed limiter), I honestly wasn’t sure if it would disintegrate and launch the skateboard through the ramp (or my neck), but the patterns this tornado of doom made were next level radness. Pretty colors destroyed!

Tune in tomorrow for more mayhem and destruction, thanks for watching!
Dave B. The 13 boards will be available October 4th 2022 on blockheadskateboards.com . Destroy more! Here’s more hot chainsaw action for your viewing pleasure. Just tried to make some weird fun shapes…no templates used (except for shovels), just sketch it and go! I wanted to clean them up a bit (but not too much) so broke out the belt sander and orbital sander, just wanted to use normal everyday tools that many people have in their garage. It was a blast making sawdust, check in tomorrow to see the start of the (organized chaos) painting process.

The 13 boards will be available October 4th 2022 on blockheadskateboards.com . Art and Destroy! Well I’ve had this dream for several years and then actually worked on these boards for over a year now off and on.
13 boards all hand cut with a chainsaw in different weirdo shapes, all close to 11” wide….then painted in a variety of violent destructive ways and finally screen printed with the art from the Just Another board that I designed in 1986. The end result was way better than I even imagined for these….so stoked on how they came out!
I’ll be posting more videos from the process starting in a few days and then they’ll be available soon after that. Get on the mailing list and stay tuned so you don’t miss out.
Special thanks to Laban, Jesse Hotchkiss, Chris Lambert, and Koby for helping with the “guest” shapes and joining in on the fun.
