Oasis were a rock band consisting of Liam Gallagher, Paul “Guigsy” Mcguigan, Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs, Tony McCarroll and Noel Gallagher. Formed in Manchester, their first live performance was in 1991. They were signed by Creation Records soon thereafter in 1993. They also signed a worldwide contract with Sony to allow them to release music in America. Their first top ten hit on the UK charts was their third single, “Live Forever”. They’re debut album, Definitely Maybe, was released in late 1994 and debuted at number one. In 1995, McCarrol was replaced on drums by Alan White. Mcguigan briefly left Oasis in 1995 but returned during their subsequent tour. Their second album, (What’s the Story) Morning Glory?, was the source of two massive hit singles. “Wonderwall and “Don’t Look Back in Anger” hit the top two spots on the UK chart. Their first large-scale headlining concert consisted of a performances at Maine Road Football Ground and later at Knebworth in 1996. Both of these shows sold out. They released Be Here Now, which debuted at number two on the US Billboard 200 chart. Arthurs and McGuigan left the band in 1999. They were replaced by Colin “Gem” Archer and Andy Bell. In the 2000s, Oasis performed in a number of live shows during recording. Heathen Chemistry, was released in 2002 and hit number one on UK charts. The band underwent a series of replacements, though the Gallagher brothers remained the core, even with some tension between them. They faced a resurgence in popularity in 2008 after a number of live tours in 2005 and the release of another album. However, Noel Gallagher quit the band in 2009. Oasis ended with his departure and the remaining band members continued under the name Beady Eye for a few years before calling that project off in late 2014.
